Why Long To-Do Lists Fail

I went through a phase where my to-do list had 40 items on it. I crossed things off every day but felt like I wasn't moving forward.

I wasn't doing too little. I was doing the wrong things. Things that felt good to complete but had no real impact on what I actually wanted to achieve.

The 3-Task Rule

The simplest method that worked for me: every morning, identify the three tasks that are genuinely important today. Not everything I could do – the three things that make the biggest difference if I do them today.

Everything else gets written down but doesn't make the priority list.

Projects vs. Daily Tasks

Projects are groups of related tasks that share a goal. Build a blog, develop an app, finish a course.

Good task management separates the project level from the daily level. You know what your project needs right now, and you know what you're doing for it today.
